Koko Dozo, music for the Space Age, Post-Disco, Post-Postman, will be releasing their first EP for music label Red Star this March. They will be serving up the "funkiest, nastiest music they've ever done." Koko Dozo made their debut in February of 2008 with a release on subTEKst Recordings, during a Nacotheque hosted party in New York. Formed by Amy Douglas and Polarity/1, "illegal music aliens, on the lam from Earth's corporate noise plantation, joined forces to re-splice the DNA of the Cosmic Hum. To accomplish this, they forge molecules from every genre of Earth tones into Post-Disco Global Funktronica to feed the ears of illegal music aliens everywhere - one of whom might be dancing around at this very moment in the room next to you."
The band let their fans know, via email:
It is such an honor to be working with the amazing Marty Thau, who
has been such an inspiration to us. Without him, you'd have never
witnessed the New York Dolls, Suicide and many many other legendary
artists who are the very fibers of Downtown NY music. This music
shaped our trajectory, and are a huge influence on Koko Dozo. It is a
veritable dream come true to be able to work with the impresario and
genius responsible for giving that music to the world. Needless to
say, we will be serving up the very best funky post-disco madness that
we can possibly offer!!!
So stay tuned y'all! It's a comin! It's a comin!
SPACE IS THE FACE!!!
