Seņor Decker's 2nd Anniversary of "Spanglish
Rock Sundays," at Cobra Lounge, featuring legendary rock guitarist (Caifanes), Alejandro
Marcovich, was an amazing success! The night featured Marcovich performing the best
of Caifanes, with Kansas City latin rockers Making Movies doing back up duty, to a full house. Also performing were local indie pop-rock band Capitulo 2, a set by Making Movies and DJs Resistol Cincomil and Angelf*k. Read on for photos and more...
Cobra Lounge, located at 235 N. Ashland, opened its doors to independent latin rock over two years ago. Thanks to the efforts of the folks behind the venue, like Seņor Decker, Blake, Dan(s) (both awesome sound guys) and DJs Resistol Cincomil and Frozty, "Spanglish Rock Sundays" has continued to grow and expand its reach to new audiences.

One of the first latin alternative rock shows that took place at Cobra Lounge featured LA indie rockers Pastilla. Following them have been a slew of talented bands that are now touring across the world including Montenegro, Vicente Gayo, She Devils, Hong Kong Blood Opera and Kumbia Queers, among others.
Seņor Decker was kind enough to take some time to answer a few questions about the 2 year anniversary as well as what we're to expect in the near future.
Enchufate:
This being the second anniversary of Spanglish Rock Sundays, why did you decide to feature Marcovich?
Seņor Decker:
Well Alejandro happened to be coming into town that weekend and it ended up falling around the same time as our 2 Year anniversary. It worked out perfectly. I think it was destined to happen.
Enchufate:
What new things do you have planned for "Spanglish Rock Sundays" in 2010?
Seņor Decker:
We get new things thrown at us all the time. We really just push them out as we get them. You just have to keep on the look out for new things. For now we'll keep getting movie passes, concert tickets, special after parties and more.

Any major shows coming up?
Seņor Decker:
On 4th of July we have a birthday party for Frozty, Vampiro and myself. Performing will be members of Saber and Handsome Devilz, doing a special acoustic set, plus full sets from StankStar, Los Pecados De Maria and Marujah (from Tennesse) plus possibly a surprise guest. On August 1st we have Hong Kong Blood Opera and Vicente Gayo performing as well.

Sounds like things will continue to thrive at the newest hot spot for latin rock in Chicago. For those of you who still haven't stopped by on a Sunday, do so. The bartenders are friendly, the drink specials rock, the DJs provide some really great music throughout the night and there's always live music from local and international bands. All for free. Seriously, what are you waiting for?
See you Sunday at Cobra Lounge!
