HIDROGENESEE is an electronic art-rock duo formed by Carlos Ballesteros and Genís Segarra in Barcelona in 1996 with the idea of creating a conceptual KLF style band, in which any music genre becomes a medium to share their ideas. From their early steps since today they have moved through synth-pop à la Human League, instrumental italodisco, ceremony ballads, glitter rock, progressive, 90ʼs dance-music, sophisticated pop and fake rockʼnʼroll. Founding members of Austrohúngaro collective and party organisers, their five releases over these years have won critical and media acclaim. After several concerts and taking part in the compilation “Lujo y Miseria” (Luxury and Misery) Hidrogenesse published one single, "Así se baila el Siglo XX”ʼ (Thatʼs the way to dance the 20th Century) (2000) because of the excitement (foreign) caused by the change of century. It was chosen one of the best songs of the year by trend and music magazines. Their following record, an EP of five songs titled "Eres PC Eres Mac” (You are PC You are Mac) (2001) included a mantric ballad, three eccentric electro-pop hymns and a version of the Magnetic Fields translated into Spanish. It was totally misunderstood by the criticis. In spite of its populist intention, it was too cryptic and strange for the media. With the same ideas and the same illusion, they recorded “Gimnàstica Passiva" (Passive Gimnastics) (2002), an ambitious and simple record at the same time. In their debut album Hidrogenesse purified their most superficial rarities and came across ten direct and easy songs. The song “No hay nada más triste que lo tuyo” (There is nothing sadder than yours) is converted in one of the best songs of the year according to the critique, and appears in several compilations and movie soundtracks. With their more recent work "Animalitos" (2007) and its acompagnion album "Bestiola" (2008) they confirm their talent and manage to shape their artistic ambitions. The twelve tracks inspired in different bugs and creatures and based on 70ʼs music (glitter and kraut rock) achieve their intention of sharing their peculiar way of seeing the world. The song "Disfraz de tigre" was chosen one of the 2007 favourites by magazines, radio programmes and websites.
Hidrogenesse have also produced the debut of Feria, a three girls band influenced by Frank Chickens, french pop, hip hop and fine arts. Their songs are about food, museums, pop idols, teen angst and girl power. They come from 90s girl band Les Biscuits Salés (They
